A Brief History

SPARK represents the province’s local firms involved in custom machining and fabrication of industrial solutions. 2018 marks the association’s 41st anniversary of being the voice of the province’s metal working businesses and their partners.

SPARK is managed by the New Brunswick/PEI division of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), Canada’s largest trade and industry association.

Here’s what we do

1. Advocacy: In partnership with CME, SPARK brings a powerful, coordinated voice to governments and public by advocating on policies and regulations that impact member’s bottom line. We are pushing for items such as lower corporate taxes, affordable and stable workers compensation rates, competitive energy rates, tax credits for capital investment, research & development incentives and workforce training support.

2. Business Networking: SPARK proactively seeks out engagement opportunities to increase the profile of members through hosting business to business development training, seminars and annual meetings. SPARK puts members in front of key project proponents to increase your business prospects.

3. Investment at Home: SPARK is primarily concerned with supporting investment in manufacturers and major projects. Investment accelerates growth, creates wealth and keeps jobs here at home. SPARK works on member’s behalf to ensure our business environment encourages and welcomes capital investment from domestic and international firms.

4. Trade and Business Development: SPARK actively supports the pursuit of commercial success by our member companies in key domestic and international markets, to boost your export sales through new free trade agreements and enhanced support networks to take advantage of new export opportunities.
